
Howdy!
I figured what better way to start this off than to talk about myself. Context is key, as my high school English teachers would say.
I ran cross country and track all four years of high school. And I was absolutely that girl that made it her whole personality. So of course I went through the whole identity crisis my freshman year of college. I even swore off running because it felt pointless if I wasn’t competing.
During that time, I discovered that I could—not so gracefully—participate in pilates and high fit classes with friends. I could stay active in different ways besides the one sport I relied on for years.
But as the months went by, I started to miss running. Strangely, I craved the shin splints and early mornings. So I attempted to get back into it, but I failed. Multiple times. My most consistent time was when I trained for a half a marathon last summer. But even then I quickly fell off my training schedule as soon as fall semester started.
